Experience a food and wine tour in Old Bordeaux, where participants sample local delicacies while walking through the historic district. The tour features small groups led by knowledgeable guides who are former chefs, food writers, and wine experts. Expect to learn about French culinary traditions, including insights on bread, cheese seasons, and wine regions. The tour includes visits to high-quality shops with generous portion sizes. It suits food and wine enthusiasts looking for a personalized experience but may not be ideal for large groups or those seeking a scripted tour. Booking in advance is recommended.
The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and is divided into two parts. The first half has you visiting the best artisanal shops in the city - specifically an artisanal bakery, fromagerie, butcher and cannele pastry shop. You will sample a few items along the way but the main event happens during the second half of the tour. You will enjoy a seated wine, cheese and charcuterie pairing for a grand finale at a wine cellar/wine shop. As we are walking, we'll point out a few historical landmarks in Old Town Bordeaux from the Camino de Santiago to the Grosse Cloche - one of the most recognized monuments of Bordeaux.
We are able to accommodate gluten-free clients by making a special bonus stop to a gluten-free bakery. If you are celiac, please let us know in advance as we have a special protocol.
