About this experience

This half-day tour from Lyon takes you to the southern part of the Beaujolais region. Participants will explore the 'Pierres Dorées' or Golden Stones Country, visiting the medieval town of Oingt, notable for its unique yellow stone architecture. The itinerary includes two wine-tasting stops where you can sample sparkling, white, rosé, and red Beaujolais wines. The tour is suitable for small groups and is ideal for those interested in wine and history. It is not suitable for large groups. Booking in advance is recommended.

Our guide English Speaking guide will meet you in front of Lyon Office de Tourisme located on Bellecour Square for departure. After a short walk, participants will get on the 8 seaters minivan to begin the excursion

Bagnols

Stop in Bagnols town to enjoy a panoramic view over the Beaujolais Southern region also called the small French Toscany.

Oingt

Visit Oingt lovely town listed as one of the “157 Most Beautiful Villages in France” and stroll through a warren of little streets hosting many artists and craftsmen boutiques. With your guide, learn about the history of the village, terroir, and geography. At the end of the visit to Oingt Village, discover a first winery where you will get to be introduced to the unknown sparkling white and rosé Beaujolais wines.

Moire

After a short drive, push the door of a second winery, meet a passionate wine-maker and immerse yourself in French history and tradition. Learn about grape growing and the unique Beaujolais wine-making process called "semi-carbonic maceration" when grapes are all picked by hand and not crushed at all. Finally, go to the caveau (wine-tasting room) and taste several red Beaujolais in a great authentic atmosphere.
